Dynamic QR Access Control for a Corporate Gym in Bahrain
An anonymized MTT implementation of managed QR-only entry for a private corporate-building gym, with schedule-based permissions, centralized control and integration with the existing electric lock.

Challenge
The private gym needed controlled access for up to approximately 50 users through one entrance. The organisation wanted to avoid issuing physical cards while retaining centralized control over who could enter and when.
The entrance already had an electric lock, so the new access workflow had to work with that existing door hardware and support schedule-based permissions without publishing the building identity or sensitive configuration.
Solution designed by MTT
MTT designed a QR-only access workflow using continuously regenerating credentials. Each approved user could be managed centrally and assigned the permitted gym schedule, while the reader at the controlled entrance operated the existing electric lock.
The design kept credential administration separate from the physical door, allowing permissions to be changed or revoked without collecting a card.
How access works
- Step 01User approved
An administrator enrols an approved gym user in the centralized access system.
- Step 02Schedule assigned
The permitted days and times are applied to that user's access rights.
- Step 03QR credential presented
The user presents the continuously regenerating QR credential at the gym entrance.
- Step 04Permission checked
The system checks that the credential is current and valid for the entrance and schedule.
- Step 05Existing lock released
A valid request releases the existing electric lock for entry.

The entry event is retained for authorized operational review.

Privacy and security approach
Access was limited by approved user and schedule, with centralized administration and event records available for operational review. Continuously regenerating credentials reduce reliance on stale or copied codes, but no credential method is described as absolute protection.

Available enhancement
Apple Wallet QR access presentation can be added for convenient entry, allowing approved users to keep and present the managed credential from Wallet. This is an available enhancement and was not part of the completed installation described here.
